The Award Winning Business Competition for Asian Business Elites Returns with Prizes worth USD 50,000

The Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) has announced that the third iteration of its annual business contest to promote Taiwan as a top-of-mind destination for incentive travel in Asia is now on. The Asia Super Team returns with a new gamification design in which, the first phase, will be presented in a Monopoly-styled online quiz game. It is open to contestants from Japan, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia,Thailand and for the first time, Hong Kong and Macau.

The champion company will walk away with an attractive MICE tourism packages to Taiwan that is worth approximately USD 50,000.

This year’s edition of Asia Super Team has gamification mechanism in its online and offline contests. The theme selected is:The Almighty Player which is aimed at motivating and challenging contestants, as well as engaging more Asian businesses to experience Taiwan’s MICE attractions.

George Town Festival 2016 to Raise the Awareness of the Arts Within the community

This is the seventh installment and the organisers promised some very exciting programmes beginning from July 29. The festival is all about discovering local talents and bringing in world class shows at affordable prices for the people.

This year, the organisers have put forward an effort a project Arts for Humanity requesting members of the community to support the arts by contributing a minimum of USD1. The project aims to self-fund initiatives that the festival runs for the community, like arranging community tickets for the underprivileged, organising educational workshops with schools like the LASALLE School of the Arts as well as funding regional artists’ projects that are to be premiered at George Town Festival in the next few years.

Festival director Joe Sidek envisages, a harmonious community brought together by the arts. The talk Stories, Humanity and What About The Arts to be held on July 30 during the opening weekend of this year’s festival will feature co-founder of the legendary Burning Man Festival, Larry Harvey, as well as renowned Cambodian film director, Rithy Panh. Both the stalwarts will share their personal artistic experiences before being part of a moderated panel discussion.

Among the programmes scheduled to be released are:

• Smashed by Gandini Juggling – a UK-based juggling group that has performed over 5000 shows in 50 countries. Coming to Asia for the first time is Pan Pan Theatre with All That Fall, a different theatrical experience that has travelled to the Edinburgh International Festival, Sydney International Festival, New York and around Ireland.

• To tickle your funny bone, the Melbourne International Comedy Festival will be bringing along a troupe including some of the best stand-up comedians from the country. For an intellectual discussion about the history of notable figures in Penang and its sister city Adelaide, the talk is entitled: Connecting the Lights: Francis Light, William Light and Who Was Martina Rozells.

• ASEAN Film Talks and showcase where award-winning Cambodian film director Rithy Panh will be discussing creative rights and the viability of ASEAN films in the international market together with other prominent personalities from the film- making industry. There will also be a screening of Panh’s critically acclaimed documentary The Missing Picture at the showcase. Entrance tickets to this hottest regional music showcase, the A+SEAN Showcase are now available at RM35 (one-day entry) and RM60 (two-day entry).

• Popular Malaysian singer Sheila Majid will be performing her first public show in the northern region in over ten years. Joining her will be breakout hip-hop artist Joe Flizzow, as well as the multi-talented SonaOne.

SITE Plays an Important Role in Developing Tourism in Shenzhen

A coastal city with a population close to 20 million is considered to be the international gateway to China – an entry and exit centre from the south, making Shenzhen, a major tourist destination. Aside from being one of the fastest growing cities in the world and well developed in China, Shenzhen has the fourth largest airport in the country.

After two successful shows, the 3rd Shenzhen Tourism Expo (SITE) will be held at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center from December 2 to 4 and is expected to cover some 15,000 square metres of exhibition space.

Sunway Lagoon Malaysia Media Appreciation Night

A feast under the starry night with alfresco dining and entertainment performance put together by staff of the theme park was held, at the property’s man-made sandy surf beach. Members of the media and corporate clients were invited to the exciting event.

The Sunway Lagoon theme park located about 15 kilometres southwest of Kuala Lumpur city, is popular for its extravaganza of water and dry land activities. One of the top global e-commerce marketplace providers 11street, who has 400,000 sellers serving over 30 million consumers worldwide recently held a media appreciation dinner. At the same time, the media was briefed on the findings of its latest nation-wide survey of consumers in Malaysia.

According to the survey, 95 percent of Malaysians are positive about online shopping, suggesting that technology is playing a big role in the establishment of e-commerce. E-commerce is proven to be a go-to outlet for many Malaysians who feel good about the possibilities of purchasing things online. The briefing conducted by Hoseok Kim, chief executive officer of Celcom Planet the company who host 11street, mentioned that the youth of the nation, are already beginning to digitize and eventually e-commerce will be aiding brick-and-mortar stores.

The survey was also conducted to gauge the spending pattern of Malaysians in celebration of the Hari Raya festive season. Rising cost of living in the country, was discovered, not a hindrance to spending for the celebration. However, Malaysians are becoming more prudent and smarter with their spending. There is also a growing trend of shifting to e-commerce platform for better money saving options.

Sri Lanka joins Xi’an Silk Road International Tourism Expo 2016

The Xi’an Silk Road International Tourism Expo series is part of the ‘One Belt, One Road’ which was initiated by Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Jointly organised by Shaanxi Provincial Tourism Administration, Conference & Exhibitions Management Services Pte Ltd and CEMS (Beijing) Conference & Exhibition Co., Ltd, the Xi’an Silk Road International Tourism Expo (XSRITE) 2016, will be held at Xi’an Qujiang International Conference & Exhibition Centre from August 26 to 28.

Sri Lanka has confirmed as the country partner of XSRITE 2016, who will join other participating countries such as Cambodia, Dominica Republic, Iran, Japan, Latin America, Russia, United Arab Emirates and the United States of America.

Chengdu International Tourism Expo (CITE) 2016

In a press conference at the Tourism Administration of Sichuan Province, it was announced that CITE 2016 will be held from December 2 to 4 and the venue is, the New Century City International Convention Centre.

The exhibition, organised by Conference & Exhibitions Management Service Pte Ltd and CEMS (Bejing) Conference and Exhibitons Co., Ltd, is supported by Tourism Administration of Sichuan Province, Sichuan Provincial Tourism Association, Chengdu Municipal Tourism Administration and Chengdu Municipal Bureau of Exposition.

More than 400 exhibitors from over 40 countries are expected to participate in this year’s exhibition that is estimated to span over 10,000 square metres. The organisers also anticipate some 6,500 international and local trade visitors and 20,000 public visitors to the show. At the same time, the organisers have invited about 400 international and local hosted buyers for the business session during CITE 2016.

MeetingPlanners Russia 2016 – MICE B2B forum in Moscow

ITB Asia 2016 Announces Dedicated MICE Day

ITB Asia 2016, the trade show for the Asian travel market, will showcase its strongest MICE line up with a full day conference programme dedicated to the growing sector.

The ninth installment of the leading regional trade show, organised by Messe Berlin (Singapore), will take place from October 19 to at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre, Marina Bay Sands.

While the MICE conference programme will take place on October 20, which is the second day of ITB Asia. The inaugural MICE Day @ ITB Asia will be held at a specially designed conference room, and shall include sessions with a wide range of industry partners, covering a full spectrum of topical issues facing the MICE sector.
